The Impact of GPU On EasyMiner when mining Crypto (Explained)

If  just wanted to mine crypto for fun, using EasyMiner or you have an RTX 2060, but when I mine, it’s using 1 to 0% of my GPU then read on, in this topic, we also discuss How come your computer it isn’t using GPU.

EasyMiner is an open-source cryptocurrency mining software. Besides, there is a Solo mechanic for those who don’t want to join the mining pool. And you can choose which coins you want to mine.

Software features include:

  1. Is open source software
  2. Compatible with ASIC, GPU, and FPGA
  3. Integrate many modes with different features.
  4. Adjust hash rate

Is using less GPU acceptable?

The answer is no, especially for cryptocurrency mining and gaming; GPU is essential in gaming, especially cryptocurrency mining; GPU plays a crucial role.

GPUs are designed to perform specific, discrete tasks. The GPU is a dedicated graphics rendering hardware that takes the load off the CPU.

Without a GPU, the CPU would have to bear all this, resulting in unstable computer performance. The higher the GPU usage, the better your graphics card will perform.

Impact of GPU on EasyMiner in cryptocurrency mining.

As mentioned above, GPU is essential in cryptocurrency mining. If the GPU is used at a low level (0%-1%), the machine will mine cryptocurrency depending on the CPU and overload the CPU.

Still, the efficiency and performance of cryptocurrency mining are not as maximum as the GPU. A mining graphics card (GPU) will be more profitable and efficient.

CPU is the part that controls all operations of the computer, calculates, analyzes, and executes data, etc. Similar to CPU, GPU also has computing power, but different in that: GPU is designed to perform specific tasks; Separation mechanism. Because of that difference, using GPU for cryptocurrency mining is much faster and superior to using CPU.

It can be roughly understood: CPU is like a boss, and GPU is an employee. To manage many departments, the boss needs to know the situation and how to do many things.

But the boss’s primary expertise is still manageable, so it’s less efficient than an employee who’s used to it. In addition, bosses only need one or a few, and employees need thousands.

Similarly, CPUs are designed to handle multiple tasks, while GPUs specialize in doing only one. The number of CPUs is only 1 (not counting servers), but many GPUs can be attached to serve the most efficient cryptocurrency mining.

How to increase GPU usage when mining?

If the GPU is too low, from 0%-1%, it is impossible to mine cryptocurrency. You’ll find several ways to increase GPU usage in this article:

  1. Reinstall the graphics driver
  2. Turn off third-party background apps
  3. Update Chipset Driver
  4. CPU Cooler
  5. Reduce GPU clock
  6. Turn off power-saving mode
  7. Reset Windows

1. Reinstall the graphics driver

Most likely, your CPU driver doesn’t match the GPU, i.e., an outdated CPU driver doesn’t check current graphics. In this case, you can delete the current driver and install the latest graphics driver version.

To begin, enter the device manager into the search box.

Click the () Display adapters button to expand the graphics driver.

Right-click the graphics driver and select [Uninstall device].

Check the [Delete the driver software for this device] property and select Uninstall to remove the driver.

Your computer will automatically install the new driver for you after a restart.

2. Turn off third-party background apps

Disabling third-party background apps can eliminate the interference of programs on the GPU, so it is also effective for overcoming low GPU usage in games.

First, type MSConfig in the search bar to run System Configuration.

Check the [Hide all Microsoft services] option on the Services tab and select Disable.

Continue to move to the Startup tab, then select Open Task Manager.

In the Startup section of Task Manager, right-click each program and select Disable.

3. Update Chipset Driver

Outdated chipset drivers can also be the culprit for low GPU, so you must update it promptly.

  • What is Chipset: Chipset is a component on the motherboard; you do not buy it separately like the CPU. The name chipset means a “set” of chips. It acts as the communication hub of the motherboard, is the microcontroller for all data transfer operations between the hardware, and is the component that determines the compatibility between the hardware and the motherboard.

First, type system information in the search box and press Enter.

Look for the BaseBoard Product property in the new window, and copy it.

Then go to the Google search page.

Paste the attribute copied above into the search box.

4. CPU Cooler

An outdated CPU can hamper the performance of the GPU if you have a powerful graphics card. With an “archaic” CPU, your computer can increase in temperature, thereby reducing the performance of the GPU.

In this case, you need to replace the thermal paste or add a fan to cool the CPU.

5. Reduce GPU clock

Increasing the clock can improve system performance, but it can damage your GPU in the long run.

It’s better not to increase it; return it to its original state.

First, access the BIOS setup utility from the Windows Start screen.

Press F9 to restore factory settings.

Save changes and reboot.

6. Turn off power-saving mode

Power saving modes are also one of the causes of low GPU usage.

First, press Win + R to launch the Run dialog box.

To open Power Options, paste powercfg.cpl into the box and hit Enter.

Select High performance and confirm the change.

Turning off all power-saving modes means turning off system and motherboard settings associated with less power consumption.

7. Reset Windows

How to fix low GPU usage? Resetting Windows is the final option because the system might be malfunctioning.

Press Win + I to open Settings.

Click on Update & Security properties.

In the Recovery properties, click Get started to Reset Windows.

According to your needs, you can choose to Remove everything or Keep my files.

Final Thoughts

So I have introduced methods to help you fix low GPU errors on your computer; this is a not too serious error. Still, it dramatically affects cryptocurrency mining and your experience.

Do you have a more effective method to fix low GPU errors on your computer? Please share your opinion by leaving a comment below and having fun.
